A Stewartry old folks home is celebrating people who work in the private sector.
Fleet Valley Care Home in Gatehouse is marking #GladtoCare Awareness Week 2021.
The inaugural event last year was a huge success with more than 250 care homes taking part and the #GladtoCare hashtag used more than 25,000 times in just one week.
The event, which runs from Monday to Friday, aims to celebrate the extraordinary contributions that carers make to the lives of recipients of care, their families and community members.
The team at Fleet Valley has been joining in with a variety of fun and engaging activities designed to get the entire care community and its residents involved.
Home manager Sheila Kelly said: “It is a great privilege and honour for the team and myself to be working in the care sector and to be providing person-centred care for our residents in what has been a very challenging year.
“Throughout the pandemic our team have displayed dedication and commitment throughout the highs and lows whilst ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our residents.
“I am so proud of every member of my team.
“A career in the care sector is so much more than looking after elderly people. It is so fulfilling that every day you know you have made a positive difference helping someone in need and making their lives that little bit easier and more enjoyable.
“Knowing that you make a difference to their day provides a real sense of achievement, which is difficult to experience in other sectors.
“Throughout the week we celebrated with strawberry tarts for staff to enjoy on #TastyTuesday, followed by asking staff for one word which sums up being a carer on #WisdomWednesday then a tombola to enable staff to win a little treat on #ThankfulThursday.”
