Gaskell Safety opens dedicated training hub

A health and safety expert has opened a new training hub in Staffordshire after receiving 'Gold Standard' industry accreditations.

Gaskell Safety has opened the new health and safety training hub at Eastern Avenue, Burton, offering more than 100 courses in everything from construction and manufacturing to mental health and suicide prevention.

The 2,000 sq ft hub boasts two dedicated training rooms and a break-out space, and plans are already in place to expand the site with a CITB testing centre.

The move - which doubled the family firm's capacity - has seen five new staff join the business.

It also comes after Gaskell secured international health and safety accreditations with NEBOSH and IOSH to become a dedicated training facility.

Managing director Arron Gaskell said the firm can now offer businesses a "one-stop shop" for health and safety support, training and testing in the Midlands.

He said: "Health and safety is a legal requirement and we want to help businesses to get their staff trained as efficiently and effectively as possible. Many local businesses traditionally have to travel further afield or hire conference facilities to offer employees training.

"Gaskell Safety is now providing a much-needed new training centre right here in Burton-on-Trent.

"The town and surrounding areas are home to a lot of regeneration and major new growth so it is vital that we are able to provide the training and facilities to support businesses and their employees as they grow."

Gaskell Safety works with large corporations, small to medium-sized businesses and individuals offering courses from entry level to NVQ Level 7.

Arron - who started the company as a health and safety consultancy in 2018 - added: "Our aim is to become the main centre for health and safety in the area so we are continually looking at ways to improve and make health and safety simpler for businesses.

"It is why we are keen to offer training and testing facilities in one so that construction workers can learn and be accredited in one day rather than having to book separate training and test sites.

"We also offer a variety of different courses which cover the whole spectrum of employee health and safety from manufacturing and construction to mental health too."
