Scots actor Greg McHugh brought back his alter ego Gary: Tank Commander in a bid to get fans to stay at home during the coronavirus crisis.

The 40-year-old posted a hilarious video on his Twitter account as Gary: Tank Commander and fans were absolutely loving it.

Filming the video with a night vision filter, Gary said: "We all ken what's kicked off, right. We're in the middle of a battle with an 'invisible enemy', that's right. Ever tried to have a fight with someone who isnae there? Exactly, it's really difficult."

He added: “Dinnae go to illegal karaoke parties, dinnae go to hoose parties, right, dinnae go see your pals.

"Just STAY. IN. THE. HOOSE. That's it."

And Gary, also made sure that he reminded his followers that they have to wash their hands and remember to stay two metres apart if they have to go outside.

One fan said: "This should be on the TV every hour. Public Information Services."

Another wrote: "Thank you Greg/ @GaryTank Needed a wee bit of cheering up tonight."

While another wrote: "Fantastic! Fun way to share a serious message, thanks @GARYTANK."

The Edinburgh comedy star, who shot to fame as TV squaddie Gary: Tank Commander, made the video in partnership with the Scottish Government.
