Gary Neville warns Harry Kane about clashing with Daniel Levy after missing Tottenham training

Former Manchester United defender turned Sky Sports pundit, Gary Neville, has warned Harry Kane about taking on Daniel Levy as he tries to secure a move away from Tottenham Hotspur.

Kane, who is looking to end his 16-year association with the club in order to win silverware before it’s too late, has failed to report to Tottenham’s training ground for two days now.

Some reports have suggested that Kane will not return until he forces a move to Manchester City during this summer transfer window.

It is understood that Spurs have not yet been informed about that by the player and at this point no transfer request has been received, but equally they have not been told when he is set to return to Hotspur Way to join up with new boss Nuno Espirito Santo's squad.

And because Kane is usually such a professional, Neville has suggested that he must be fairly angry with the club, otherwise he would’ve showed up to training.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “If Harry Kane was meant to report to pre-season training with Tottenham on Monday, then he should've come back. You can never advocate any player not turning up for training - it's as simple as that.

"You've got to turn up and you've got to do your job. However, I've worked with Harry and I can't think of a more professional footballer that I've ever seen.

"He does everything right, so he must be seriously annoyed. Something has happened badly that has made him do that.”

However, Neville does think his actions are inexcusable, and he’s even warned Kane about taking on Levy, as very few go onto win that particular battle.

"It still doesn't excuse it for me. He should still have come into training, and you respect your team-mates. You still have to go and stand with them and sit in the dressing-room, but it's clear now that there's a collision course.

"He’s taken Daniel Levy on. Not many do it, not many come out of it the other side, but it’ll be interesting to see which club’s involved. It looks like City [Manchester]."

Tottenham will be hoping a resolution can be found quickly, and as their stance on not selling their talisman is still clear as of now, the club will have faith that he’ll eventually get on with things as normal.
