Gary Neville urges Man Utd to make another signing after Bruno Fernandes transfer

Gary Neville has urged Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to move for a striker before Friday's transfer deadline.

United have agreed a deal with Sporting Lisbon to sign Bruno Fernandes, with the midfielder set to now undergo a medical and finalise personal terms.

Solskjaer is short of options in the final third with Marcus Rashford sidelined with a back problem.

A host of players have been linked including Edinson Cavani and Islam Slimani, with Solskjaer considering bringing a striker in on a loan deal.

“I thought they would do at least two deals in this window, we’ll see what happens in the next 48 hours," Neville said before the Carabao Cup clash with Manchester City.

"I think a striker is required now after what has happened with Marcus Rashford.”

Neville also suggested United fans cannot expect too much too soon from new signing Fernandes.

He added: "They’ve had massive issues, not just in terms of recruiting players.

“Also with injuries to key players as well, Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay have obviously both been missing so it’s essential that they had to do a deal in that area of the pitch.

“I think for him to come to England, to settle in, he’ll need some time, but they’ve got a good quality player into the building.

"Obviously it’s very difficult to hit the ground running in a January transfer.”

Fernandes could make his debut this weekend when United take on Wolves at Old Trafford.
