Gary Neville trolls Liverpool fans hours after Man Utd's own horror show

Gary Neville trolled Liverpool fans with a Twitter post – hours after his former side Manchester United suffered defeat.

The Premier League champions were blown away by Aston Villa in a 7-2 loss to the side who avoided relegation by one point last year.

It is the heaviest defeat Jurgen Klopp has suffered in the hot seat at Anfield, ending the Reds’ unbeaten start to the 2020/21 campaign.

And Neville, who won eight Premier League titles and two Champions League honours at Old Trafford, took the chance to have a dig at his former rivals.

Posting on Twitter at half time, the pundit shared the eyes emoji as the score stood at 4-1 to Villa.

The 45-year-old then shared an selfie with his eyes wide open while taking a sip from a glass of wine.

Neville’s dig, though, came just hours after his former side suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat to Tottenham at Old Trafford.

After taking the lead early through Bruno Fernandes’ penalty, a brace from Son Heun-Min and a red card for Anthony Martial put Spurs 4-1 up at half time.

And the Anfield faithful were quick to remind the pundit of his side’s own defeat.

“You’re tweeting this when your own team got battered 6-1,” one supporter said.

Another commented: “For f***s sake, Gary.”

While Everton fan and former heavyweight boxer Tony Bellew got involved, simply saying: “Stones in glass houses.”

And a fourth added: “Shameless.”

It comes after the former defender laid into United for their poor performance against Spurs.

“I can’t believe we are where we are,” Neville added.

“There’s no excuse for those players out on the pitch because they were absolutely pathetic.

“The body language was terrible, it was spineless. They know how to win but you think about the off-the-pitch.

“The minute Spurs went 2-1 up, it was as if all the negative thoughts took the energy out of them.

“These United players have not helped themselves but the off-the-pitch stuff does not help.”
