Gary Neville suggests Harry Kane has intentionally left the door open for Tottenham exit this summer

Gary Neville claims Tottenham star Harry Kane has ‘deliberately opened the door’ for a move away from north London.

Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is keen admirer of Kane and United would be interested in signing the forward.

But Tottenham have no interest in selling their talisman to United this summer and plan to reject any interest from any of their Premier League rivals.

The England captain did however hint in a recent Instagram chat with Jamie Redknapp that he could be prepared to leave Spurs in the future.

Neville pointed out Kane to United would fit a pattern over the years of the club signing or trying to sign the biggest British talents in the league under Sir Alex Ferguson.

And the former United defender suggests Kane knew exactly what he was doing when he spoke of a move away from Spurs.

“Maybe, it fits Man United's historical transfers, trying to sign Shearer, Ferdinand, Rooney – the most famous British players in the Premier League,' Neville said during an appearance on Sky Sports’ ‘The Football Show’ on Monday.

"In terms of Harry Kane, Jamie knows Harry Kane better than I do but I did work with him with England and I think he’s a clever lad, he’s not somebody who would get caught out if he didn’t want to say something so the little opening of the door that he left in that Instagram piece with Jamie I think was probably something that had something in it."
