Gary Neville spots Pep Guardiola looking "stitched up" by VAR as Man Utd lead Man City

Gary Neville pointed out the look on Pep Guardiola's face suggested he felt he'd been "stitched up" by VAR in the Manchester derby.

But the former Manchester United right-back was quick to point out that the video technology had come to the correct decision, despite the Manchester City manager's frustration.

Marcus Rashford was chopped down in the box by City midfielder Bernardo Silva, who clumsily attempted to win the ball back at the Etihad.

Referee Anthony Taylor referred to VAR to check the penalty claim, and awarded a spot-kick to Manchester United.

At that moment Sky Sports cameras panned to City boss Guardiola looking less than impressed in the home dugout.

The Spaniard flicked his water bottle in his hands and slumped in his seat, as Neville, providing commentary on the match, exclaimed Guardiola looked like he felt he'd been "stitched up".

Rashford dispatched his penalty to give Manchester United the lead.

The VAR decision came shortly after an early call that also went against the Citizens.

Victor Lindelof appeared to handle the ball in the box, and Guardiola could be seen appealing for a penalty on the touchline, but VAR wasn't called into action.

Manchester United doubled their advantage on the 29th minute mark, with Anthony Martial on target for the away side on his return.

Ahead of the match, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said of the Frenchman: "You want as many good players on the pitch as possible, especially when you play a fantastic team like Man City are.

"We know we'll have to play up to our best to have a chance of a result."
