Gary Neville speaks out against Premier League rule that affects Manchester United

Gary Neville has called the decision to postpone Arsenal's match against Tottenham this weekend as 'wrong'.

The Premier League accepted Arsenal's request for postponement on Saturday, which means the game will now be rescheduled.

That decision to postpone the North London derby has come under intense scrutiny, with some rallying for transparency from the Premier League's postponement process, as the fixture is actually the 21st top-flight game to be postponed this season.

Arsenal loaned out Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Folarin Balogun away from the club just days before the postponement.

The Premier League's rules state: "Postponement is not permitted where a club has 14 or more eligible players (players on the squad list) available," and some have speculated that clubs are having their games postponed without properly meeting this ruling.

Neville has now spoken out against the Premier League's decision to postpone Arsenal's match, labelling it 'wrong'.

"What started out as postponements due to a pandemic has now become about clubs not having their best team," Neville wrote.

"The Premier League must stop this now, draw a line in the sand and say all games go ahead unless you have an exceptional amount of CV cases. It’s wrong."

United had their games against Brenford and Brighton postponed in early December after a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.
