Gary Neville snubs Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden in dream England line up vs Germany

Gary Neville has named the team he would field for England when they take on Germany in the Euro 2020 round of 16 — and there is no space for either Phil Foden or Marcus Rashford.

England will host long-time rivals Germany at Wembley on Tuesday June 29th in a 5pm kick-off with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs, after they won Group D and Germany finished as runners-up in Group F.

With plenty of talk around who should start in Gareth Southgate's after their mixed performances so far this tournament, former England and Manchester United defender Neville has given his verdict, posting his own team to his Twitter account.

According to Neville, the Three Lions should go with a back-three system to match up with Germany's wing-backs and believes that Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka did enough in his performance against Czech Republic to ensure Foden and Rashford have to start on the bench.

United defensive duo Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw are named in his team, with Shaw at wing-back, while Manchester City 's Kyle Walker moves into a centre-back role alongside teammate John Stones.

Raheem Sterling also keeps his place as the only man to score for England so far in the tournament, while Harry Kane continues up front in Neville's 11.

He said: "Wing backs to match up [and] engage Germany’s, Saka and Sterling left higher in channels v[ersus] Germany wide centre-backs and Rice [or] Philips onto Kroos [and] Gundogan."

Foden started the first two games of the tournament but struggled to make a big impact and was dropped from the squad entirely for the Czech Republic game, while Rashford has made three substitute appearances but is yet to start a game.
