Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has welcomed the club's decision to appoint experienced German coach Ralf Rangnick as their new interim manager.
United confirmed the arrival of the former RB Leipzig boss on Monday morning and he will take charge of the team until the end of the campaign, before moving into a consultancy role for two years.
The German, who has been poached from Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow, will take charge as soon as his work visa requirements come through, meaning it remains to be seen if he will take charge of Thursday evening's clash with Arsenal.
Nevertheless, the German, who will bring no shortage of knowledge and experience to Old Trafford, has been welcomed to the club by Neville, who, seemingly, is delighted by his former side's decision to install him as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's successor.
On Twitter, Neville said: "Welcome to the Greatest Football Club in the World, Ralf Rangnick.
"A contract for six months to coach the team, a contract for two years to coach the club."
Although United will remain in the market for an elite-level manager to replace Solskjaer on a permanent basis next summer, Rangnick, in the meantime, will be looking to improve results and lay the foundations for the club's next manager to build upon.
On his arrival at Old Trafford, the German told United's club website : "I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club.
"The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience. All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.
"Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis."
United have confirmed that Michael Carrick will remain in charge of first-team responsibilities until the formalities concerning Rangnick's work visa are completed.
