Gary Neville sends message to Manchester United board after Everton defeat

Manchester United great Gary Neville says he is 'concerned' about the club's plans to rebuild under current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Neville was speaking after the 4-0 hammering at Everton on Sunday and whilst he remains loyal to Solskjaer, the former Manchester United defender admits he is worried about the lack of help he is being afforded.

There have been calls from fans and pundits alike for a technical director to come in and help the club recruit top talent for next season.

And Neville believes that key decisions have to be made quickly to avoid the Red Devils' barren Premier League run extending any further.

"I'm concerned. This idea that Manchester United won the league a few years ago has gone. They are now in the wilderness," Neville told Sky Sports.

"Six years is a long time. Things can turn around quickly but big decisions need to be made swiftly and soon.

"Solskjaer said on Friday that he needs to rebuild this team and the squad. He also said he requires a coupe of transfer windows.

"Who is rebuilding this squad for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Manchester United fans? I've asked that since Christmas and even the start of the season.

What Manchester United player Scott McTominay did when asked for an interview after Everton embarrassment

"I don't believe there is anyone there who is able to rebuild the club back up from a football point of view in the way that it needs to be rebuilt.

"I might be proved wrong and out of order in saying that. But right now there is evidence to suggest that there is something wrong."

Neville added that an array of top clubs across Europe will also be in the market for players during the summer, something which will make the execution of a successful transfer window even tougher.

"Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are rebuilding and so are Arsenal, while Liverpool, Man City and Barcelona will get players," Neville added.

"Manchester United have to compete with those teams to get the best players."
