Manchester United great Gary Neville has sent a stark warning to Tottenham's Jose Mourinho and new West Ham United boss David Moyes over their styles of play.
Neville feels that both managers have needed to change their style of play after time out of the game following their departures from United and West Ham in 2018.
The Sky Sports pundit insists that the game has changed and fans are more expectant when it comes to 'progressive' football.
Mourinho was accused of becoming too pragmatic towards the end of his tenure at the Red Devils, which ended with his sacking in December 2018 before he replaced Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs last November.
Moyes, meanwhile, helped keep West Ham up during the 2017/18 season but he was not retained as the club went for the more flamboyant option of Manuel Pellegrini, only for the Hammers to bring Moyes back after sacking the Argentine last month.
"It's getting to the point now where there has been a sea change in football and fans are not going to accept pragmatic football anymore," Neville told Sky Sports.
"Fans want front-foot football both on and off the ball. They want teams to be progressive. Even if you drop deeper into your shape, they want you to be proactive in terms of closing people down. They won't accept basically people just shuffling across.
"David Moyes has had a reputation of being a pragmatic manager and Jose Mourinho, one of the most successful managers of all time, has even had that thrown at him over the last five or six years.
"The time out of football that they've had, I think they do have to see what is happening in the game.
"It's not just the media, it's the fans who are going to see their teams play. They want entertainment and stylish football.
"Ultimately you have to adapt and time out of the game can be good. Style is so important now for managers. You have got to play on the front foot."
