Gary Neville sends brutal Dele Alli warning to Arsenal duo after win against Tottenham

Gary Neville has warned Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka over Dele Alli's form at Tottenham.

Alli was one of the country's brightest talents not too long ago, but the past 12 months or so has been a real struggle for the Spurs midfielder.

The 25-year-old was in and out of the team under Jose Mourinho last season, and despite being trusted more by Nuno Espirito Santo, his form is still a real concern for Tottenham supporters.

The former England international was substituted at half-time in Tottenham's defeat in the North London Derby to Arsenal.

Meanwhile, for the red half of north London, Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka continue to flourish - with the youngsters both scoring in the 3-1 victory over Spurs on Sunday afternoon.

The English pair were perhaps the brightest sparks of Arsenal's poor 2020/21 season and they have brought their form into the new campaign with some fantastic performances.

Former Manchester United defender Neville has now sent the Gunners duo a brutal warning that their careers could make a sudden change like Alli's if they are not careful.

Neville said on Sky Sports after the game: "If they want a warning sign they should look at Dele Alli, I had him at England three or four years ago and I’d have said he was one of the best midfield players this country has produced. He had everything: 6ft 2ins, could tackle, could head - everything.

"Now look at him on the pitch; he was subbed at half-time and the rest of them could’ve been subbed but he’s a shadow of what he was in terms of application and work ethic on the football pitch.

"I said last year he needed a shock, he needs to sort himself out, I love him as a kid but he has to sort himself out."

Smith Rowe has now scored two in as many games in all competitions after finding the net in last week's Carabao Cup victory against AFC Wimbledon and Mikel Arteta is delighted with the progress the Hale End academy graduate is making.

Arteta said on Smith Rowe: "He has scored two in the last two games. It's great.

"I think today was a great example of the senior players showing big leadership standing up for the team. The likes of Auba scoring a goal.

"And then two academy players who have been raised and developed within our system coming in a big derby and doing what they’ve done - scoring two goals."
