Gary Neville says Manchester United should follow Jurgen Klopp example at Liverpool

Gary Neville has used Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool as his example when urging Manchester United fans to remain patient with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after poor start to Premier League season.

The Red Devils started the campaign in superb fashion as they recorded a 4-0 win over Frank Lampard's Chelsea.

This triumph was followed up by a 1-1 draw with Wolves, 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford and a 1-1 draw away at Southampton.

But the Man United icon has explained to fans of the three-time European champions how they must take inspiration from Klopp's success at Liverpool at this stage rather than Pep Guardiola's at Manchester City.

The former England defender said: "Solskjaer is working more with a squad like the one Klopp picked up at Liverpool than the one Guardiola inherited at City.

"From that point of view this is going to be a long game at Old Trafford and it's going to be frustrating at times.

"There are going to be results like Southampton, Wolves and Crystal Palace along the way.

"But when you watch the team a lot of the principles are correct.

"They seem to be playing the right way. You see Daniel James score that goal (at St Mary’s) and you see the way in which they are trying to play.

"The style of it is right. The bones are there but there's still a very long way to go.

"It's going to be bumpy along the way."
