Gary Neville's telling response when asked if he would take Man Utd manager's job

Gary Neville says he would "run a mile" if he was offered the chance to manage Manchester United.

The Red Devils legend took part in a Twitter Q&A on Sunday night and was asked what he would do if the opportunity to manage the club he represented his entire playing career arose.

Neville responded without skipping a beat, tweeting back: "That call isn't coming and if it did I would run a mile."

The answer followed a previous question from a fan, who asked: "Would you go back into football management?"

Neville had an equally blunt response to that, simply writing: "No".

The former Manchester United right-back has dabbled in football management and was England assistant boss under Roy Hodgson during the 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

Neville later took over as Valencia boss but was sacked after just four months.

During his spell in charge of the La Liga club Neville oversaw a 7-0 defeat by Barcelona in the Copa del Rey.

Upon being sacked Neville confirmed that he wanted to stay but admitted results had "not been to my standards" or those "required by this club".
