Gary Neville reveals which Manchester United player is his favourite 'by a long way'

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville says Mason Greenwood is comfortably his favourite player at the club.

Greenwood has emerged a first-team regular for the Red Devils this season, having burst onto the scene in recent years with a string of impressive displays.

The forward has scored 32 goals for United in just over two seasons, a feat made all the more impressive by his tender years; Greenwood turns 20 on October 1.

While last season there were low points for the forward as he failed to always show his goalscoring touch, in the early weeks of the current campaign he has been able to display that ruthless edge in the final third again.

Whether it's with his left foot or right, Greenwood is composed and accurate when chances drop to him in front of goal.

Like Neville, Greenwood made his way into the United first team after honing his craft in the club's academy.

So perhaps it was no surprise that when Neville was asked who his favourite player was from the current United squad in a Q and A on social media, he was emphatic in naming Greenwood.

In a separate post, Neville named Greenwood in his current best United XI, suggesting he should start as part of a front three alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani.

After starting the season with three goals in as many Premier League games, Greenwood has not found the back of the net for United in his last four outings.

The arrival of Ronaldo has pushed the teenager into a role wide on the right side, meaning he's found himself in dangerous areas less frequently as of late.
