Gary Neville reveals Liverpool's biggest risk in Premier League title race with Man City

Gary Neville believes that possible key injuries and Champions League participation present a big risk to Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

Liverpool opened up a nine point gap on current champions Man City after their 3-1 victory at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds maintained their unbeaten start to the league season with goals from Fabinho, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane seeing off the challenge from Pep Guardiola's injury-hit side.

The result has seen suggestions that the title race is already over but Neville thinks there are factors which could see it swing back towards Man City.

Speaking on Sky Sports' The Gary Neville Podcast, he said: "Yes, they could blow it and City could come back. There could be a freak from Chelsea or Leicester but it's becoming more unlikely.

"The biggest risk for Liverpool is getting caught up in Champions League and injuries to the likes of Salah, Mane and Van Djik.

"That would be a big problem for them if they were to lose two of those players for a couple of months at a time as it has been with City losing Laporte."

However Neville does think that this Liverpool side will take some stopping after the win over Man City.

He added: "All things point towards Liverpool being big, big favourites for this Premier League title.

"It's not just because they are nine points clear, it is the steps they are have been taking in the seasons before to get closer and closer.

"Eventually, they will get there and it is looking like they will take some stopping.
