Gary Neville responds to Mino Raiola over Erling Haaland transfer and Manchester United comments

Gary Neville has responded to Mino Raiola after he snubbed Manchester United while discussing his transfer plan for Borussia Dortmund goal machine Erling Haaland.

The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the hottest properties in Europe since signing for the Bundesliga outfit in January 2020 — a hotly-anticipated pursuit which also involved the Old Trafford giants.

United are understood to have the Norway striker on their radar moving forward with Haaland likely to move on again in 2022.

Having scored a staggering 74 goals in 73 games for Dortmund, across all competitions, Haaland is thought to have a release clause worth around £64million in his existing contract that comes into play in June.

Raiola underlined his plans for the former Molde and RB Salzburg player during an interview with Sport1.

Speaking about Haaland's next move, he said: "Maybe this summer, maybe the summer after. There is a big chance that Erling will leave this summer. We will see.

"We all knew when we moved to Dortmund that this step would come. He can and will take the next step; Bayern, Real, Barcelona, City. These are the big clubs he can go to.

"City have won the championship five times in the last few years, much more than United."

Responding to that last part on his Twitter profile, Neville added: "I know we've been crap recently, but Mino Raiola has wiped out all United's Premier League titles in one foul swoop."

Later readdressing his own stance, Raiola wrote on Twitter to say: "I want to clarify the following about the Sport1 interview.

Who do you want United to sign next summer? Have your say in the comments section below.

"The four clubs I have mentioned about Haaland's future were just an example to say that, when he leaves, he will go to one of the top 15 European clubs. Now Erling's focus is solely on football, there are no negotiations with any club.

"I reaffirm what I said, it's not a sure thing that he will leave this summer, maybe it will be the one after that."
