Gary Neville reacts to Ed Woodward resignation and collapse of European Super League

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has reacted to Ed Woodward's resignation and the collapse of the European Super League.

The MEN can confirm Woodward has resigned as executive vice-chairman of Manchester United following the backlash to the proposed Super League, with the plans announced on Sunday met with intense backlash from fans, pundits and players alike.

Neville embarked on a passionate rant on Sunday after United played Burnley to criticise the plans and then used his platform on Sky Sports to further explain his stance on the proposed closed-shop 'elite' division, showing just how disgusted he was.

Now, reacting to Woodward's resignation amid the Super League controversy, Neville has taken to social media to revel in the news, sharing the 'goodbye emoji' just 15 minutes after the story broke.

Neville, who has relentlessly campaigned against the Super League since its conception on Sunday night, also shared an image of himself drinking a glass win, seemingly basking in the collapse.

Manchester City and Chelsea told organisers they do not wish to be part of the European Super League on Tuesday, and now the pressure is increasing on United to follow their fellow Premier League rebels.
