Gary Neville produces Andy Robertson quip as pundit suggests Liverpool star played like he's been 'on the lash'

Sky Sports co-commentator Gary Neville has joked that Liverpool's Scottish left-back Andy Robertson partied a little too hard following their title coronation.

The former Dundee United man was unconvincing in defence as Liverpool played their first match as champions in a 4-0 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night.

Robertson charged out as City scorer Phil Foden turned him and slotted home the third goal of the evening.

And that led Neville to deliver a brutal assessment of his defending.

On commentary duty for Sky Sports, he said: "Well I mentioned Robertson, he's been outstanding for Liverpool in the last two seasons.

"But he's playing tonight like he has had a week on the lash.

"So unlike him, you can see him get drawn in, I talked about getting drawn into spaces.

"He just has to hold his nerve, he's rushing out, he's getting just played around."

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side were applauded onto the pitch by their opponents after winning their first title in the Premier League era and the first overall in 30 years.
