Gary Neville picks between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Gary Neville believes Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a better defender than Trent Alexander-Arnold - but admits the Liverpool star is much better at going forward.

England international defenders Alexander-Arnold and Wan-Bissaka are widely considered two of the best right-backs on the planet.

Alexander-Arnold regularly terrorises opposition defences with his speed and attacking prowess, while Wan-Bissaka has mastered the dying art of tackling.

Pundits are split on who is the overall best right-back, with Manchester United fans celebrating their man's ability as a defender and Liverpool supporters pointing out that Alexander-Arnold has the second most assists of any player in the Premier League.

And it seems former England right-back Gary Neville is also undecided on who the overall best defender is.

Speaking on an Instagram Live, Neville said: "At this moment in time Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the better defender. But Trent going forward.

"I've not seen someone like it since Cafu. So Trent is ahead at this point but Wan-Bissaka has settled really well and will be important in these next few years."

Manchester United splashed out £50million on Wan-Bissaka at the start of the season, making the former Crystal Palace star the world's most expensive technical full-back.

Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, came through the Reds' youth team and is currently the only Liverpudlian in Jurgen Klopp's first team.
