Gary Neville perfectly sums up Vincent Kompany's incredible goal against Leicester

Gary Neville paid tribute to Vincent Kompany and declared that his 30-yard winner for Manchester City against Leicester may rival Sergio Aguero’s title winner against QPR in 2012.

Aguero handed City their first Premier League title with a 94th minute strike under Roberto Mancini seven years ago.

Since then City have won titles under Manuel Pellegrini and Pep Guardiola - claiming 100 points last season.

But this year they find themselves in a title fight with Liverpool .

The Reds win over Newcastle on Saturday put them back on top and City needed to beat the Foxes to keep their title destiny in their own hands.

But a nervous display against Brendan Rodgers’ side meant they were goalless with 73 minutes on the clock.

But then captain Kompany fired home a scarcely believable strike - leaving Neville to pay homage to the Belgian centre-half and to lay bare how incredulous the effort - his first goal from outside the box in 12 years - really was.

"I was in this stadium when the Aguero goal went in and obviously for these fans out here it can never get any better than that," Neville said on Sky Sports. "But that’s just run it very close.

"Kompany is a City hero, a giant at this club, he has been for 10 years. He’s someone that I think everybody looks up to and respects.

"I think if you looked at Aguero, Silva, Kompany, you couldn’t speak highly enough about them as fellow professionals - we’re ex-football players now.

"You think about how they carry themselves they’re absolutely fantastic in the way they represent football on the pitch.

"Kompany is outstanding on the pitch off the pitch. What he’s just done tonight is another level.

"You could have thought of a million ways that football game would have been decided tonight and that wouldn’t have been one of them. "
