Gary Neville has claimed Liverpool were "never going to win the Premier League in a million years" with either Loris Karius or Simon Mignolet in goal.
The former Manchester United defender picked star shot-stopper Alisson Becker in his Team of the Year for Sky Sports before making a statement about the Reds' former No.1s.
Karius is still a Liverpool player, although his future looks destined to be away from Anfield as continues on loan in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin after a tumultuous two years.
Mignolet, meanwhile, is back in his homeland and playing for Club Brugge after completing a transfer in the summer of 2019.
“They were never going to win the league, never going to win the league with the previous goalkeepers [Mignolet and Karius] in a million years,” Neville said.
“Never. Not going to happen!
“That’s eight, ten or 15 points there. Honestly, you cannot quantify it. It’s just a guess. But in your mind, you just know that when a goalkeeper makes an error, the impact it has on the defence is catastrophic.
“Then it just builds. That nervousness just builds. And all of a sudden the crowd starts to go. He [Alisson] is a brilliant goalkeeper.”
