Gary Neville has admitted Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic was lucky to only get a yellow card in the first half of United's Premier League game with Chelsea.
United went into the break drawing 1-1 after Juan Mata's 11th minute goal was levelled by Marcos Alonso.
Chelsea felt that United were fortunate not to lose a man when Cesar Azpilicueta appeared to be elbowed by Matic after 36 minutes.
Martin Atkinson decided it was a yellow card offence but Neville conceded that Matic was lucky.
Speaking on Sky Sports, he said: "Sometimes you can put your arm out to naturally protect the ball.
"There is a bit of that with Matic. He plays like that.
"It looked like Azpilicueta was far away and he’s had a look and just stuck his forearm into his face.
"Yellow card. He’s lucky to get away with that."
