Gary Neville offers opinion as Graeme Souness claims duo aren't good enough for Liverpool

Gary Neville appears to agree with Graeme Souness after he took aim at Xherdan Shaqiri following Liverpool's win over West Ham.

The Switzerland international has been a peripheral figure in Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side over the past two years, but started for the Reds on the weekend.

At the half time break of Liverpool's 3-1 win over the Hammers, Liverpool favourite Souness claimed neither Shaqiri or Divock Origi are good enough to play for the Reds.

"They've got nothing up front," announced the Scot on Sky Sports. "I'm sorry, Origi and Shaqiri [aren't good enough]. [Mohamed] Salah's up there on his own.

"We're used to Mane taking people on, Firmino sliding clever balls in. What you're getting is what I expected from the other two - not a lot."

And now Neville has had his say on Shaqiri, slamming the midfielder for walking about too much while playing in an attacking role.

"The problem is with Shaqiri is that he plays walking football in that number 10 role," said the former Manchester United captain on Sky Sports.

"It would be nice if he made a run through. I think he just jogged forward a bit there, but he's got to do more.

"Off the ball I'm talking about, on the ball he's got a little bit of quality, but he's got to provide a bit of penetration."
