Gary Neville names the only position Paul Pogba can play in for Manchester United

Gary Neville feels Paul Pogba is starting to make the wide left position his own at Manchester United.

The French midfielder struggled for game time due to injuries and poor form earlier in ths season, with Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Scott McTominay proving to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's favoured midfield trio.

Yet Pogba has featured far more often of late and delivered one of his best performances in some time in last week's Premier League win over Aston Villa.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said Pogba's new position is one that suits him as it gives him more attacking freedom.

Neville said: "I have to say it became evident about two months ago that if Paul Pogba was going to play a lot of games for Man United this season, he was going to have to play wide on the left.

Nemanja Matic jokes with Paul Pogba over his choice of attire at Manchester United training

"The three in midfield, Ole only trusts McTominay, Fred and Matic as the two sitting and he trusts Bruno in front, so Pogba is only going to play in the one in front.

"In the big games, he’s going to play with the two sitting, so he had to be on the left.

"It started a little bit scabby on the left-hand side, but now he’s starting to get a bit of freedom. I like him when he’s in and around the 18-yard box, he can impact matches. He can become a massive player for United this season."
