Gary Neville names his England starting XI vs Ukraine with Phil Foden and Mason Mount included

Gareth Southgate's tactics have come under intense scrutiny throughout England's Euro 2020 campaign and now Gary Neville is the latest to give his verdict on how the Three Lions should line up.

England face Ukraine in the quarter final of the competition of on Saturday evening after a memorable 2-0 victory over Germany in the round of 16 stage secured their passage through to the next round.

Ahead of Tuesday night's clash against Germany, Southgate's decision to deploy a back-five and omit the likes of Jack Grealish and Phil Foden from the starting eleven drew criticism from plenty of fans, but his tactics were proved right on the night.

Neville has now revealed what his line-up would look lie for the quarter finals, with two stars re-introduced in place of two names who started the Germany game.

Kieran Trippier started in the right-wing back role on Tuesday evening, but he would be omitted from the next line-up if Neville had his way.

With the ex-Manchester United star reverting to a back four, Trippier was the defender to make way in Neville's line-up.

Teen sensation Bukayo Saka was the second name to be sacrificed back to the bench despite earning plenty of plaudits for his performances against the Czech Republic and Germany.

The duo were dropped in favour of both Mason Mount, who has been training with the rest of the team since Tuesday after being forced to isolate due to Covid protocols, and Phil Foden - who has struggled to impact proceedings so far.

The quarter-final tie presents Southgate's side with arguably their most favourable route to the final of a major tournament in recent memory, knowing a win over Ukraine would present a semi-final tie versus one of Denmark or the Czech Republic.

Due to tournament seeding, England will not meet any other competitor that is placed within the top 10 of FIFA's world rankings, until the final at the absolute earliest, with Spain, Switzerland, Italy and Belgium situated on the other side of the draw.

Spain take on Switzerland, before Belgium, ranked no.1 in the world take on seventh placed Italy ensuring at least one of England's toughest opponents will be eliminated before they get the chance to meet Southgate's side.

Gary Neville's England XI vs Ukraine in full: (4-2-3-1) Jordan Pickford, Kyle Walker, John Stones, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips, Mason Mount, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling, Harry Kane
