Gary Neville names five Liverpool players who are "irreplaceable"

Gary Neville believes there are five "irreplaceable" members of the Liverpool squad.

The Reds head into the final day of the Premier League season still with a slim chance of coming out as champions.

Manchester City's narrow win over Leicester on Monday night ensures that they have a one point lead heading into the final day.

City travel to Brighton , where they will have to slip up to allow Liverpool, who host Wolves , the chance to lift the trophy come the end of the afternoon.

Regardless of whether Liverpool come out on top or not, they have had a season to remember, scoring one of the highest points tallies in top flight history.

And Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes part of that is down to their squad.

He claims that five individuals have had such an overwhelming impact on the team that they have had a key contribution to their success.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, Neville said: "Liverpool’s squad depth has been criticised all season.

"The likelihood for me is that if Liverpool had suffered with injuries, they would have struggled.

"[Mohamed] Salah, [Roberto] Firmino and [Sadio] Mane have been almost ever-present. So have [Virgil] van Dijk and Alisson.

"Those are the five players that I call irreplaceable at Liverpool.

"If any of those had been injured for long periods, I think Liverpool would have struggled."

If there has been one criticism of Liverpool's squad this season, it is the lack of strength in depth off the bench.

But Neville added that he believed their substitutes have had a bigger impact than some people might think.

"What Liverpool do have off the bench is cameo players like Sturridge, Lallana, Shaqiri, Origi, who can all give you a spark and freshness late on."
