Gary Neville makes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claim amid Manchester United fan protests

Gary Neville says Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have two things on his mind after Manchester United fans' protests delayed the kick-off of their game against Liverpool.

United were set to face their fierce rivals at 4.30pm but kick-off was delayed after fans gained access to Old Trafford as they protested against the Glazers' ownership of the club.

It meant the game was postponed indefinitely, with a kick-off time still yet to be announced 30 minutes after it was supposed to start.

Whilst United's squad was not at Old Trafford when fans gained access to the stadium, there were also protests outside the team's hotel, with both teams delaying their arrival to the ground.

Neville believes it will have left manager Solskjaer with plenty to think about as he tries to keep his focus on how to prepare the team for the delayed game, especially with a lot riding on the match due to the fact Man City can be crowned champions should United suffer defeat.

Yet, speaking on Sky Sports, Neville also said he expected Solskjaer to have an understanding over the fans' protests, particularly as a former player of the club himself.

He said: "I think two different things: one will be how he prepares his team for the game later on because he’s a manager and a professional.

"The second part will be about the fans being there, hoping things go as peacefully as possible and hoping there’s no trouble, but also understanding that the fans need a voice.

"Obviously Ole has been at the club a long time.

"He needs to get that balance right in terms of being a hero with the fans and also making sure he gets his team right for this evening."
