Gary Neville makes Manchester United and Liverpool comparison he didn't want to say

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has admitted he sees parallels with the current Liverpool side and his United title-winning sides of the past.

Neville collected eight Premier League titles during his time at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson with Liverpool now without a championship win in 30 years.

He was watching Liverpool pick up a 2-1 win over Spurs at Anfield to move back six points clear at the top of the Premier League from Manchester City.

And afterwards admitted that he sees Jurgen Klopp's side as future title winners after goals from Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah saw off Tottenham who had led through Harry Kane.

Asked on Sky Sports if he thought Liverpool looked like the winners he had played with, he explained: "Yeah, I thought during the second half, I was going to say it on air but didn't, about the teams we played in at Manchester United.

"There is a complete trust in this crowd, they are brilliant to watch and they scintillating.

"I agree with Jamie (Carragher) that there was only one winner at half-time and I thought that at 20 minutes to go.

"They have played title winning football now for two years. You can't compare them to Man City . They are a completely different team.

"They are relentless and they should win a title playing the football and amassing the points they have."
