Gary Neville hopes Carlo Ancelotti doesn't rest his Everton stars when the Blues take on Salford City in the League Cup second round on Wednesday night.
The Blues have signed James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure so far this summer, with the trio all impressing in Everton's Premier League opening day victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
However, Ancelotti is expected to rotate his team when the Blues welcome the League Two outfit to Goodison Park this week.
But having been impressed by the likes of Rodriguez against Spurs, Manchester United legend Neville is hoping he makes an appearance against Salford - the club he co-owns with his brother and former Everton captain Phil, ex-Red Devils team-mates David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes and Singaporean business magnate Peter Lim.
"No, no (I don't fear Everton )," he said on Sky Sports after watching Everton's win over Tottenham. "James Rodriguez, he’ll be out Tuesday night before that game on Wednesday thinking ‘this is the easy one for me’.
"I hope he plays. Our left-back might not. (He was) very, very good (on his debut). Different level on the ball. Class."
Everton will be looking to end their silverware drought this season, having not won a major trophy since lifting the FA Cup back in 1995.
They reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup last season before exiting on penalties at the hands of Leicester City at the quarter-final stage with former boss Marco Silva persisting with a strong XI throughout including for their second round tie away at Exeter City.
