Gary Neville makes David Beckham joke after Manchester United Treble reunion game

Gary Neville says David Beckham should have passed the ball to him rather than score himself at the end of Manchester United's legends game against Bayern Munich.

United's veterans won 5-0 on the 20th anniversary of the Reds' Champions League final victory against Bayern that secured an unprecedented treble of trophies.

Neville lined up against fellow Class of '92 members Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Beckham and had a flurry of chances on goal.

One flashed across the face of goal in the second half and the former United captain would have had a tap-in had Beckham not shot to make it 5-0 at the death.

But Neville said meeting the day's objective of raising money for the Manchester United Foundation was the most important part of the game.

"Obviously we're not as fit as we used to be and it's a big pitch but I enjoyed it, it was nice," he told BT Sport. "He [Beckham] should have passed to me by the way, at the end.

"We're finished, to be honest with you," he said of his 80-minute showing. "I think physically, you watch the lads now in the Premier League and they're amazing. I watch them every week and you see how far you are away.

"My mind knows what to do but my body isn't taking me there. That's why we all retired eight or nine years ago.

"It's brilliant to be out here. We've raised a lot of money for United's Foundation who do a lot of work with young kids in the community who need an opportunity in life, and that's the big thing.

"It was worth coming in the changing room pre-match because that was the special bit. I was happy for David's goal at the end and Nicky's goal was brilliant. At least we saw some good goals as well!"
