Gary Neville leaves Jamie Carragher in stitches with question to Eddie Howe

Jamie Carragher was left in stitches after Gary Neville asked Eddie Howe about his international break plans following Newcastle's 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest.

In a feisty Friday night clash at The City Ground, Forest took the lead against the run of play in the first half through Emmanuel Dennis, who expertly dinked the ball over Nick Pope. However, the lead didn't last long as the Magpies deservedly levelled on the stroke of half-time when Alexander Isak volleyed home from close range.

The second half was dominated by Newcastle as they chased another goal, and after being denied by Keylor Navas and the VAR, they finally grabbed their winner in the 93rd minute. The Magpies were awarded a penalty following Moussa Niakhate's handball - and Isak did the rest from the spot - slotting beyond Navas.

It could prove to be a vital three points in the Magpies' push for a Champions League place and Howe was visibly delighted after the game. However, the Newcastle boss was quizzed by Neville live on Sky Sports about his plans for the next two weeks with the international break looming.

Neville said: "What are your plans for the next couple of weeks? It must be nice to know you've got a few days off?" Carragher, who started laughing, replied: "Are you stalking or something, let the lad have a couple of weeks off!"

But Neville regained his composure following a second of hysteria and added: "I always feel really good for a manager when they win before the international break and you're going to have a nice few days..."

In response to Neville's long-winded question, Howe said: "There will be a nice feeling tonight, but knowing me and my character, I will be very soon looking at Manchester United. We're actually going to Dubai with the team, so we are training."

Neville, who looked a little awkward after Howe's revelation, said "that's good," before Carragher, Howe, Neville and Kelly Cates all burst into laughter. The latter then apologised for Neville's actions with a tongue-in-cheek comment. She said: "We're really sorry about him and we'll sort out his restraining order as soon as we possibly can."

That proved to be the final question of Howe's post-match interview with Sky Sports as he shook hands with Carragher, Cates and Neville, before heading back down the tunnel. Neville couldn't help himself but add another line onto his comment to back up why he asked the question.

The ex-Manchester United defender finished: "It's nice to have a conversation sometimes Kelly and ask what they are up to for the next week or so." Carragher then added: "Is it a magazine show?"

Newcastle's win leaves them just a point off fourth place, but with a game in hand on Tottenham, who face Southampton on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, Forest remain two points above the drop zone.
