Former right-back Gary Neville has said that Manchester United's 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening was nothing more than a "start," as they look to correct their recent troubles.
United brought their four-game winless run in the Premier League to a close in the capital with a comfortable victory over a lifeless Spurs side, who did very little to threaten David de Gea in the United goal.
Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, who made just his second Premier League start of the season, and substitute Marcus Rashford got the job done for United, ensuring they began to heal the wounds inflicted by last Sunday's 5-0 battering at the hands of Liverpool.
Although United's response could not be knocked, Neville is refusing to get too carried away, insisting that the victory didn't "let anyone off the hook" after last weekend's defeat to Liverpool.
"I’ve not liked the body language of what I’ve seen in the last four games, throwing their arms and stomping off the pitch, they looked disconnected from the manager, not part of the problem," Neville told Sky Sports.
"It looks like something has happened this week where they’ve come together. It’s proved today that they can put some sort of performance together.
"Today was a decent start but it doesn’t let anyone off the hook. A start but no more than that."
Although Neville refused to get too carried away, fellow former United man Roy Keane was full of praise for the way Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side bounced back, albeit against a toothless Spurs side.
Keane said: "I think it was a perfect game for Manchester United, there. Spurs had a cup game this week, Spurs aren’t scoring many goals.
"It was just perfect. It was a case of how many do we want to score, the perfect day for Manchester United."
