Gary Neville has shot down Piers Morgan's claims that Manchester United should have shown some more patience in former manager David Moyes, by drawing up old tweets of the television presenter.
Moyes' West Ham side continued their impressive Premier League form with a resounding 4-1 win over 10-man Aston Villa on Sunday, to move level on points with Manchester City in third.
Second half goals from Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen added sparkle to the scoreline, ensuring the East London side continued their brilliant start to the season. It prompted Morgan, an Arsenal fan, to direct a jibe towards Neville and United supporters.
The dig comes in light of a torrid run of form for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which has led to pressure on his position as a manager at the Theatre of Dreams — a position that Moyes himself was sacked from after succeeding legendary United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
After a relatively successful decade with Everton, the Scot was appointed the United manager but his reign soon turned sour after a spell of poor performances and results ended in his dismissal after just 51 games and nine months in charge.
As the final whistle rang around and emptying Villa Park, Morgan tweeted: "If United had shown David Moyes a bit more patience, as they did with Sir Alex, they could have saved themselves a lot of pain."
This drew a response from the former United right-back Gary Neville who dragged up a series of tweets berating the 58-year-old during his time in the Old Trafford hot seat.
It was two simple tweets using emojis to relay the U-turn in opinions from the presenter responding with screenshots of tweets that read: "BREAKING NEWS: David Moyes to be fired for losing dressing room he never found."
Before adding another in quick succession in relation to a picture of Morgan with Nelson Mandela as the latter laughed: "I said: 'David Moyes' > RT @dannybowzer @piersmorgan what was the joke you told nelson Madera to make him laugh in your header picture."
Neville and Morgan are known for their ongoing 'beef' on the social media site.
