Gary Neville identifies the four positions Manchester United must strengthen in during transfer window

Gary Neville has detailed the four positions Manchester United must improve in this summer.

United are unbeaten since January and have taken 17 points from a possible 21 since the Premier League resumed to move into a strong position in the race for a top-four finish.

However, United are still a long way behind champions Liverpool and Neville believes they will need to be active in the summer transfer window.

"Definitely a centre-back, definitely a centre-back," Neville told the Webby & O'Neill podcast when asked where United need to strengthen.

"A challenge for David de Gea, a right winger and a centre-forward. In my opinion."

Delving into his reasoning, Neville added: "It's not to replace [Anthony] Martial, it's to challenge Martial.

"It's meaning that [Mason] Greenwood doesn't have to play right wing all the time.

"I do think the club need a winger who maybe could play both sides personally. I think they do need a centre-forward.

"In 1999 we had [Teddy] Sherringham, [Andy] Cole and Solskjaer in the building and Sir Alex Ferguson signed Dwight Yorke to challenge them, to complement them, to play with them. Not to replace them.

"You can sign a player in the same position as another player without disrespecting them if that player has got the right attitude."
