Gary Neville identifies Man United's potential match-winner against Liverpool FC

Gary Neville has insisted that Anthony Martial can be a match-winner for Manchester United against Liverpool if Marcus Rashford misses the match through injury as expected.

United's top goal-scorer is expected to miss the battle at Anfield after he was taken off injured against Wolves during their 1-0 FA Cup third-round replay win on Wednesday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted he "wouldn't hold his breath" over Rashford featuring on Merseyside although he didn't rule him out completely.

Rashford's 19 goals in all competitions have been crucial for United in their quest for Champions League football and on the counter-attack during big matches against the top six.

However, in his expected absence, Neville has called upon Martial to step up to the plate and believes he could target Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez to get some joy.

"I'm not sure Rashford is going to play which I think is a massive loss," Neville told Sky Sports Super Sunday.

"I do think Martial has got something in him that could cause Alexander-Arnold and Gomez a problem. He's cold enough, I think he has got ice in his veins in big moments.

"If you can get Martial in the sort of 16 to 18 yards in the channel where Alexander-Arnold and Gomez operate, that's where the weakness lies for Liverpool. They are both brilliant defender, brilliant players but they have a little lapse of concentration in them and I think he's the type to cause them to make a mistake, I think they are clever enough to do it.

"You're talking about one or two moments in a match that United have to take advantage of, they won't create seven, eight, nine chances."
