Gary Neville hints at imminent "big decision" on David de Gea's Man Utd future

Gary Neville has revealed that a “big decision” is set to be made soon over David de Gea's future at Manchester United.

The Spain stopper was left out of the side that drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace on Wednesday night due to “personal reasons”, according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

That left Dean Henderson to fill in once again, making his fourth appearance in the Premier League this term.

The 23-year-old has never shied away from the fact that he is looking to replace De Gea as United’s number one.

And Henderson may have his wish sooner than expected following a slightly cryptic tweet from Red Devils legend Neville.

While fielding questions on social media, he was asked on Twitter : “Do you think time is over for De Gea in a United shirt?”

Really stoking the fire, Neville replied: “A big decision is coming soon.”

It remains to be seen exactly what that means; De Gea is under contract until 2023, and at 30 years old he is still very much in his pomp.

But Henderson is unlikely to settle for another season of bench warming, so a resolution could well be found this summer.

Neville was highly complimentary of Henderson’s performance against Palace, as his save late on ensured United escaped with a point.

"Onside, offside, it doesn't really matter. He doesn't know that,” Neville said on commentary for Sky Sports.

“It's a big, big moment for the Manchester United goalkeeper. He had to make the save and he did.

“He'll feel so good if he walks off here with a clean sheet because he's contributed heavily to it here. What a chance for Crystal Palace.”

United face a huge task this weekend when they travel to bitter rivals Manchester City on Sunday.
