Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has heaped praise on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his development in settling into a wider role at Arsenal this season.
The Gunners captain has regularly played from the left in Mikel Arteta's side, with Alexandre Lacazette or Eddie Nketiah leading the line, but that has not reduced his contribution.
Aubameyang struck twice at the Emirates Stadium during the 3-2 victory over Everton on Sunday, putting him joint top of the league's scoring charts with 17 goals.
As such, Neville has singled out the forward for praise and has admitted that he is a player who would usually get overlooked when talking about the league's best players.
"I've been hugely impressed," he told Sky Sports. "I've watched a lot of him over the last two-and-a-half years and yet, like everyone else, have never really put him up there with the Premier League’s world-class players.
"But if you look at the most goals in the Premier League since the start of last season, he's at the very top ahead of Sergio Aguero, Mohamed Salah, Jamie Vardy, Harry Kane, players we don't hesitate for one second to describe as great.
"However, we never really put Aubameyang in that category. I'm not just talking about myself, most people on most programmes, if asked to mention the top five strikers in the league or who you'd rely on to get you goals, they wouldn't mention Aubameyang.
"There's always like a hesitation or a reluctance to put him in the mix.
"Yesterday I was watching the game and he was absolutely outstanding, we often create excuses for players out on the left wing but you look at him and he's adopting a classic left-winger position.
"He's adapting to his role and he was brilliant. He was wide at times, he played as an inside striker at times, he got back, and when he goes through on goal, you just trust him. He's absolutely always going to deliver."
