Gary Neville gives verdict on Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp and Man City's Pep Guardiola - and expects twist

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has praised Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and his Manchester City counterpart Pep Guardiola for ensuring "an amazing title race".

The two sides are currently going toe-to-toe in pursuit of the Premier League crown, with the Reds seeking to end a 29-year wait for league glory.

Liverpool currently sit top of the standings with a two-point advantage over City but have a game in hand, while Sunday’s clashes, where the Reds tackle Chelsea and Guardiola's side travel to face Crystal Palace, have been touted as potential banana skins for both sides.

The title fight is likely to go right to the wire and Neville has stated that, whatever the outcome, fans are being treated.

"We are witnessing two brilliant managerial performances, on and off the pitch," he told Sky Sports.

"With Pep Guardiola, we are witnessing an amazing title race, the two teams play the right way, the managers perform the right way, and I have to say, from our point of view, it is brilliant to watch, even though it is painful for me. Both teams are carrying themselves brilliantly.

"For Pep Guardiola, he wants to create history. The way Liverpool have performed this season, this would be a far bigger achievement this year to win the league, than last year.

The real story of Mohamed Salah and why Liverpool man wants to prove Chelsea right

"As it incredible as what City did last year was, to win it this time, back to back, do it a second time, against a Liverpool side performing as they are would be incredible. For Liverpool to beat a City side performing as they are, would be astonishing.

"Fair play to them both, there’s a good month still to come of football and I’m looking forward to Sunday because I do think there could be a twist."
