Gary Neville gives honest answer when asked if he would take up Manchester United manager job

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed he would 'run a mile' if he was ever offered the managerial position at Old Trafford.

Neville certainly always talks a lot of sense when he is commentating on games or analysing them alongside old foe Jamie Carragher on Monday Night Football, but his one stint in management did not go to plan.

The former United captain was surprisingly appointed to his first - and only - management job by prestigious La Liga side Valencia in December 2015 but wouldn't even see out the rest of the season.

He took charge of the team for 28 games and only managed to win 10 of them, drawing seven and losing the other 11, although he did manage to oversee impressive draws against both Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Those results weren't enough, however, and he was sacked under four months later in March following three league defeats in a row which included a derby loss to Levante.

His previous record probably wouldn't make him any body's first pick to get the job at United but fans can rest assured that Neville will never be taking the hot seat, or at least so he says.

In a Twitter QnA on Sunday night he was asked by one fan: "If the opportunity ever arose would you take the United managerial role?"

Neville was straight to the point in his response: "That call isn't coming and if it did I would run a mile."

In fact, it seems that the Salford City joint-owner won't be becoming a manager of any team any time soon.

When asked if he ever same himself getting back into management his reply was a blunt 'no' and then when asked what the weirdest thing he had ever been asked to sign was, he simply replied 'VALENCIA contract.'
