Gary Neville fumes over Man Utd takeover and makes Wrexham comparison in dig at Glazers

Gary Neville has launched another attack on the Glazers as he urged the American family to speed up the Manchester United takeover process.

The Glazers have been looking for fresh investment for some time and are also open to selling their stake in the Red Devils. English billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is battling Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani for control of the Premier League giants.

But supporters are growing increasingly frustrated, with no end in sight and no preferred bidder yet announced. Neville has been a vocal and frequent critic of the much-hated Glazers, with the slow progress of the takeover infuriating him.

And the legendary United captain has now called on the Americans to finally bring an end to the draw-out process. Neville insisted that the Glazers are sapping the energy out of United and need to leave Old Trafford.

"Everyone’s bored now. Honestly, I think everyone has got the point whereby what the Glazers do, they erode every little last bit of energy out of everything that they do,” Neville said.

"The fans have had enough, they want them out and I think to be fair – it’s sad, really, that it’s come to that but that’s exactly how I think everybody feels.

HAVE YOUR SAY! Will the Glazers sell Manchester United? Comment below.

"They know nothing about Manchester or the north west of England and the tradition of football in this part. They have not embedded themselves in the local culture.”

He also negatively compared the Glazers to Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The Hollywood superstars have bankrolled Wrexham to promotion from the National League and are beloved in North Wales.

Neville said: “They turn up there. They’ve done it well at Wrexham and they’ve got obviously a long way to go to get to probably where they want to be, Championship, Premier League, and probably that might take three years, eight years, 12 years, who knows.”

It is far from the first time that Neville has aimed a dig at United's owners, with the iconic skipper being a long-standing critic of theirs. He has previously branded them a "disgrace" and "unprofessional"

“Plainly obvious the Glazer family aren’t going to announce anything on the ownership until the season is closed! They’ve been spinning it out unprofessionally for weeks and months now," he tweeted recently.

They know fan protests would have been more significant than they already have if matches were still being played and the end result of the sale process is unpopular. Basically any family members staying in would be deemed unacceptable by all fans. Is this why they’re holding off?”
