Gary Neville explains why Manchester United won't sign Jack Grealish

Gary Neville believes it's "very unlikely" Manchester United would try and sign Jack Grealish, despite the midfielder's fine form for Aston Villa this season.

MEN Sport reported that United were interested in signing Grealish in 2020 but were put off by his £80million price tag after the Villa captain helped his side to avoid relegation.

Grealish subsequently signed a new contract at Villa Park as United signed Donny van de Beek from Ajax for a much lower fee.

"I think it's very unlikely Manchester United would move for Jack Grealish, as good as he is," Neville told Sky Sports during United's game against Villa.

"When you think of Van de Beek, Pogba, Fernandes, the type of players they have. There are no doubts, there were accusations about style over substance but now he's delivering on a consistent basis. He's a brilliant player for Aston Villa."

Former United striker Andy Cole has been impressed with Grealish. "I think what he's shown at the moment and over the last few seasons, he could play for any of the top-four teams," Cole said before kick-off.

"I'm not being disrespectful to Aston Villa, they won't want to lose him, he's their talisman. Everything goes through him, he produces passes for his teammates and scores goals.

"I think we all know he's a quality player. He's still a young man, still learning the game, still want to improve."
