Gary Neville explains what is remarkable about 'sensational' Liverpool

Manchester United legend Gary Neville has revealed what it is really like playing against Liverpool at Anfield.

The former Old Trafford right-back was speaking to Sky Sports' Football Show when he was asked to lift the lid on how it felt to be the bad guy in the middle of Anfield's famous atmosphere.

And it is exactly what Liverpool fans want to hear.

The 45-year-old was in action for United at some of the world's biggest and best stadiums during his long career, including Barcelona's Nou Camp.

But Neville has named Anfield as the most difficult ground he has ever played at.

"I always felt that if you won at Anfield, it was a major event, "he admitted to Sky Sports.

“I always felt that it was the most difficult ground to play at in my career as a Manchester United player.

“You never got it easy there, you never came away from there thinking that it was comfortable.

"Even if we were 2-0 up at Anfield, which sometimes we were, I think Liverpool came back to draw one year at 2-2."

This season's Liverpool side are on course to do what no Reds side has done for 30-years in being crowned champions of England.

And Neville believes that Anfield atmosphere is as important and a feared as ever.

“Their record under Jurgen Klopp is absolutely remarkable and what Liverpool have achieved in the past 18 months is remarkable.

"They’re an all-round team, they can do everything, they can mix it with you, they can counter-attack, they can drop, they can keep possession, they’re exciting to watch and they’re a really brilliant football team.

“Their record at Anfield at this moment in time is something sensational.”
