Manchester United and Wolves played out a goalless draw on Saturday evening.
It was a result at Old Trafford that helped neither side as they both remain six points behind Chelsea in the race for a Champions League spot come the end of the season.
Bruno Fernandes made his debut for the Red Devils and showed moments of quality that encouraged United to shell out £57million on the Portuguese ace.
And he had some of the best chances no the day as Man United could not find the goal that would give them the three points.
Anthony Martial was up front and supported by Fernandes, Daniel James, James Garner and Juan Mata as an attacking force, but the goalless draw means it is now three straight Premier League matches without a goal since Marcus Rashford suffered an injury against Norwich.
United brought in Odion Ighalo, the former Watford player, on a short-term loan deal on transfer deadline day, but former player Gary Neville is not convinced he will be the answer to the club's problems.
Speaking after the game on Sky Sports, Neville admitted that Tottenham are better stocked for attacking players, even with Harry Kane injured, than United are in the race for the top four.
Neville said: "Chasing a goal they've had to bring on Jesse Lingard and Diogo Dalot and I know they've got injuries, but other teams have got injuries too and that tells you exactly the problems Manchester United have.
"They don't have that front three that can provide that moment of magic. Son [Heung-min], [Lucas] Moura and Kane is a far better front three than what Manchester United have."
