Gary Neville explains how Rafa Benitez and Brendan Rodgers may approach 'aiding Liverpool'

Gary Neville thinks former Liverpool bosses Rafael Benitez and Brendan Rodgers will have very different approaches to next week's matches which have a huge say in the Premier League title race.

Benitez's Newcastle take on his former side at St James's Park on Saturday evening, with Rodgers' Leicester go to Manchester City next Monday fresh off the back of beating Arsenal 3-0.

Liverpool are now a point behind City in the race after Sergio Aguero gave his side a 1-0 win over Burnley on Sunday , and a defeat at Newcastle would mean that City would win the league if they subsequently beat Leicester.

And Neville said the approaches of the bosses will be fascinating.

Arsene Wenger makes title race prediction after Man City go back above Liverpool

"I think looking at the next two games, they're ex-Liverpool managers," said Neville on Sky Sports.

"Rafa Benitez, I think, will want to do a job on Liverpool , on Jurgen Klopp. A resilient, stubborn 0-0, 1-0 victory.

"I think Brendan Rodgers will want to go to City and make sure that tactically he matches Pep Guardiola, and show that he can compete at that level.

The tiny distance that could prevent Liverpool from winning Premier League title

"He'll give his players, that night, a system of play that will be clever. He'll want to go head-to-head with him.

"I think both managers in these next two games will really want to put one over on the two teams they're playing, and I think this race will continue until the last day because of that.

"Both teams will win I think. But there could still be a shock. I keep waiting for one of them to drop points!"
