Gary Neville demands Super League punishment

Gary Neville wants to see Liverpool and the other Super League clubs punished following their actions in trying to form a breakaway league.

The Reds were one of six clubs in England to confirm their involvement in the plans which were instantly greeted with a backlash from supporters.

And Neville wants to see the Premier League hand down sanctions to those involved.

When asked on Twitter: “Hand out punishment to the breakaway clubs? Or is that forgotten about now”, the former Manchester United defender replied: “No the @premierleague need to get this sorted ASAP! Dragging it out and is demonstrative of the “ stuck in the mud “governance that exists in Football.”

Premier League clubs reveal retained lists

Former Liverpool stars Mamadou Sakho, Andy Carroll and Nathaniel Clyne were among the players released by Premier League clubs.

The trio were included on the released lists of Crystal Palace and Newcastle and the current 20 Premier League clubs confirmed who would be retained for the season ahead.

Liverpool confirmed four departures themselves, as well as two new contracts offered.
