Gary Neville delivers verdict on Mikel Arteta's efforts at Arsenal so far

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has given his verdict on the job done by Mikel Arteta so far at Arsenal.

The Gunners have won both of their first two games, and that means they average more than two points per game under Arteta in the Premier League.

But even without the stats, it's easy to see how well Arteta has done since he was appointed as Gunners boss in December, according to Man United legend turned pundit Neville.

"I think Mikel Arteta is punching above his weight," said Neville on his podcast. "He is going above and beyond the players he has. The shape and the organisation, things we have criticised Arsenal for in the past, is good

"They are not finishing in the top four like Arsene Wenger used to get criticised for but they look like a team which is more cohesive. It has continued from the end of last season and he is doing a great job.

"I just think Mikel Arteta would love that £150 million that Frank Lampard has got this summer."

Arsenal have a 100% record after their first two games, beating Fulham and West Ham.

They will be looking to protect that record against reigning champions Liverpool next Monday.

But before then, they face Leicester City - who have impressed so far - in a Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday.
