Gary Neville delivers stark warning for Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs amid coronavirus break

Gary Neville believes not allowing the Premier League season to finish would be a "doomsday scenario" for clubs and supporters.

The Premier League has suspended the 2019/20 season until at least April 30 but that date could be set back even further as the coronavirus outbreak possibly hits its peak around May.

Nine games of the current campaign still remain, with the league title, Champions League qualification and relegation still to be sorted.

And Neville, speaking on Sky Sports' The Debate show on Thursday night, believes the season has to be restarted and finished.

English football suspended until at least April 30 due to coronavirus pandemic

"Football doesn't matter at this moment in time but it would have to be a doomsday scenario for football not to finish the existing fixtures for this season," the former Manchester United man said.

"I don't see how you could essentially shift on with next season without finishing those fixtures."

The coronavirus outbreak has also placed several clubs, especially those lower down the football pyramid, in financial difficulty, with many unsure when they will return to action.

And Neville has described it as "horrific" if clubs were pushed to their limits due to the outbreak and is calling on the Premier League to act.

"The idea that football comes out of the coronavirus crisis, where clubs have gone to the wall because of basically there not being a package in place from the Premier League, which has got all the money, is horrific," he added.

"I cannot think that's not going to happen. I'm sure the Premier League are looking at that as we speak. We cannot see football clubs going to the wall because of this virus."
